JA Solar 465W Monofacial Solar Panels

The kit includes two JA Solar JAM54D41-465/LR 465W monofacial solar panels. JA Solar is an established manufacturer of photovoltaic modules, supplying solar technology for residential, commercial and industrial applications.

Each panel has a rated output of 465W under standard test conditions, providing a combined installed solar panel capacity of 930W. Actual electricity generation depends on sunlight, temperature, orientation, shading and other environmental conditions.

Hoymiles HMS-800-2WB Plug & Play Microinverter

The Hoymiles HMS-800-2WB microinverter converts the DC electricity generated by the solar panels into AC electricity suitable for household use.

  • Maximum AC output power: 800W
  • Two independent MPPT inputs
  • Designed for connection to two solar panels
  • Compact and weather-resistant construction
  • Supplied with a 5m UK AC connection cable
  • Suitable for the specified ENA-listed solar configuration

The microinverter can help maximise energy production by independently tracking the maximum power point of each connected solar panel.

Model 2 – 20° ZAM Steel Ballast Solar Mounting Systems

For further specifications and mounting details, visit the Worldwide Solar Model 2 – 20° ZAM Steel Ballast Mounting System product page.

This kit includes two Model 2 ZAM steel ballast mounting systems, with one mounting system supplied for each solar panel.

For full specifications and mounting details, see the Worldwide Solar Model 2 – 20° ZAM Steel Ballast Mounting System.

The mounting systems are designed to support solar panels at a fixed 20° inclination, making them suitable for installation on appropriate flat ground surfaces and other suitable locations.

Manufactured from corrosion-resistant zinc-aluminium-magnesium (ZAM) coated steel, the mounting systems provide a durable solution for outdoor solar installations.

Installation and Positioning

For optimal performance, position the solar panels in a location that receives good sunlight throughout the day. In the UK, a south-facing orientation will generally provide the highest annual electricity generation.

The 20° mounting angle offers a practical balance between solar energy generation and installation height.

Before installation, ensure that the supporting surface is stable, level and capable of safely supporting the complete system, including the required ballast.

All electrical connections and mounting arrangements must comply with applicable safety requirements and local regulations. Check the suitability of the intended connection method and any relevant network operator notification requirements.

Generate Your Own Renewable Electricity

With 930W of installed solar panel capacity and an 800W microinverter, this system can help offset household electricity consumption during daylight hours.

Electricity generated by the system can contribute towards powering household appliances and other electrical loads, reducing the amount of electricity imported from the grid.

Actual electricity production and financial savings vary depending on weather conditions, shading, geographical location, installation orientation and household electricity consumption.

BALLAST REQUIREMENTS & INSTALLATION

For a standard solar module measuring 1762 × 1134 × 30 mm, each Worldwide Solar Model 2 mounting system requires four solid concrete ballast stones weighing approximately 29.4kg each. This provides 117.6kg of ballast per mounting system.

As this kit includes two mounting systems, the stated arrangement uses eight stones in total, providing 235.2kg of concrete ballast. The two steel mounting systems weigh approximately 12.4kg combined, excluding panels and concrete ballast.

Important sizing note: The stated ballast arrangement is based on a reference module measuring 1762 × 1134 × 30 mm. Confirm the dimensions and weight of the supplied JA Solar JAM54D41-465/LR panels and obtain the correct site-specific ballast specification before installation; the stated 235.2kg is not a universal minimum for every location.

Use solid, normal-weight concrete only. Lightweight, hollow and aerated concrete blocks are not suitable. Concrete ballast is not supplied with this kit and must be purchased separately.

Ballast installation guidance

  • Choose a stable, level surface capable of supporting the panels, steel frames and full ballast load; consider local ground conditions and drainage.
  • Assemble each Model 2 mounting frame in accordance with the Worldwide Solar installation instructions and check that all fasteners and clamps are correctly fitted.
  • Place the specified concrete stones securely and evenly in the designated ballast areas of each frame, following the Worldwide Solar ballast layout. Do not stack or improvise placement unless expressly permitted by Worldwide Solar.
  • Ensure the ballast is secure and the frames cannot slide, overturn or lift in expected wind conditions. Verify the design against local wind exposure and any applicable snow loads.
  • Install and clamp the solar panels in accordance with Worldwide Solar instructions; check cable routing, clearances and electrical connections before commissioning.

IMPORTANT INSTALLATION INFORMATION

Important: Concrete ballast stones are not included. Ballast requirements can change with module size and weight, wind exposure, site conditions and installation location. Seek a competent installer or structural assessment where necessary.

The stated ballast values are based on a standard solar module measuring 1762 × 1134 × 30 mm. Different solar panel dimensions or weights may alter the required ballast and overall performance of the mounting system.

Before installation, confirm that the supporting surface can safely carry the combined weight of the mounting systems, solar panels and ballast stones. For flat-roof installations, a professional structural assessment may be required.

Worldwide Solar mounting system specifications and performance values are based on Worldwide Solar product information. The stated snow-load and ballast values relate to a reference module measuring 1762 × 1134 × 30 mm. Actual installation requirements vary depending on the panels used, local wind and snow conditions, site exposure, supporting surface and applicable building regulations.
